Retired Illinois Army National Guard Infantry Major; State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) issued the following statement after becoming aware that our National Guard soldiers are being vetted based on their political party affiliations:
“I spent 15 years in the Illinois Army National Guard. I’m stunned that the Biden administration would direct the FBI to question our soldiers’ patriotism. Questioning the loyalty of our citizen soldiers based on their party affiliation is a slap in the face to our veterans and all members of the National Guard. The citizen soldiers from Illinois weren’t told to go to Washington, they volunteered to serve and protect our country during Inauguration Week. I am deeply disturbed by this action and urge Governor Pritzker to immediately bring our troops home from Washington DC. We all swore an oath to the Constitution, not a party or president”
