State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) issued the following statement after the House approved HB 642 to enact leadership term limits:
“We have advocated for leadership term limits from my first days in the General Assembly. Today, a bill that I’m a sponsor of passed the House unanimously. Starting in 2023, all leadership positions will be term limited and no one will ever break Mike Madigan’s record. The days of a Speaker of the House serving for decades is long gone as ten year term limits will be enacted soon.”
