State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) issued a statement following the Illinois General Assembly’s decision to break state law by skipping the vetting process to hire a Legislative Inspector General:
“Today the Democrat-controlled legislature broke the law by appointing its lead corruption investigator on their own instead of having the position properly vetted and legally filled by the Legislative Ethics Commission. Only in Illinois would the legislature not follow its laws in order to hire someone tasked to enforce the law. Let that one sink in, lawmakers broke state law today to hire a watchdog tasked with investigating lawmakers who break the law. These charades must stop if Illinois is ever not going to be arguably one of the most corrupt states in America.”
