Illinois State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) issued the following statement after Democrat lawmakers approved its fourth attempt to change the SAFE-T Act:
“Democrats have yet again doubled down on the unpopular SAFE-T Act in their latest attempt to fix this broken piece of public policy. By keeping the abolition of cash bail in the latest revision, Democrats have fully ignored Illinoisans and law enforcement alike who are concerned with their communities becoming visibly less safe. It won’t be long before we are back in the legislature – again – to discuss changes to this dangerous piece of public policy.”
