State Rep. Dan Caulkins’ petitions Illinois Supreme Court to vacate decision on weapons ban law

Decatur, IL – State Representative Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) has today filed a post judgement petition with the Illinois Supreme Court to vacate its decision on the weapons ban law.

At issue is the denial of due process under the 14th Amendment arising from Justices Elizabeth Rochford and Mary Kay O’Brien participating in the case despite overwhelming reasons they should have recused themselves. Both justices received disproportionate contributions from the leaders of the co-equal branches of government in the aggregate sum of more than $2.5 million in direct contributions and $7.3 million in indirect contributions calling into question their impartiality and independence. Both Justices reportedly committed to the outcome for an assault weapon ban during their respective campaigns joined by the Defendants which contributes to the denial of due process right to a fair hearing.

“The case has been filed and accepted by the Illinois Supreme Court,” Caulkins said. “It has been our contention all along that these two justices should have recused themselves. For this reason, we are asking the High Court to vacate its previous decision.”

IL Freedom Caucus formally requests legislative hearings on immigration

IL Freedom Caucus formally requests legislative hearings on immigration

Springfield, IL – The Illinois Freedom Caucus has sent a letter to House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch requesting legislative hearings on immigration.

Last year, there were approximately 2.5 encounters at the U.S. southern border. But this issue has extended far beyond the southern border. From August 2022 through November 2023, Illinois taxpayers have paid an astonishing $708 million for programs and services for illegal immigrants.

Given the impact of the issue nationally and on the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, the Illinois Freedom says a series of legislative hearings are necessary.

“Due to very serious concerns surrounding the immigration crisis, we are formally requesting the Illinois House of Representatives hold public hearings on this topic in Northern, Central and Southern Illinois, beginning with the City of Chicago. These people deserve to have their voices heard, publicly,” the letter states.

The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of State Representatives Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro), chairman; Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), vice-chairman; Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich); Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville); Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur); Jed Davis (R-Newark) and David Friess (R-Red Bud). The members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are members of the Illinois General Assembly who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes and accountability, and integrity in government.

ARE THEY SERIOUS??

The Illinois State Board Of Education (ISBE) has the nerve to ask for more money. ISBE’s Superintendent (Tony Sanders-L) and Chair (Stephen Isoye-R) are asking the Illinois General Assembly to give them an additional $650 million for their budget.

 FOR WHAT?

The proposal calls for $35 million in new funding for a line item called “supporting newcomers.” That money would be available for such expenses as hiring bilingual teachers, paraprofessionals and other staff; buying materials written in the students’ native languages; providing additional before- and after-school programming; and providing other supports for children and families.

Over the last two years, state officials estimate the number of “newcomers” in Illinois has grown nearly 85 percent, to about 36,200.

A Contagion of Bad Ideas

Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden wants to ban natural gas in all new buildings in Chicago in an effort to fight climate change.

Spending more and more of YOUR money on losing ideas is the Left’s specialty. And obviously they know NOTHING about how energy works. Living in a northern climate requires the use of dependable energy sources like fossil fuels, nuclear energy, coal and natural gas. Electric vehicle chargers, windmills and solar panels FREEZE UP just when you need them the most. In addition to being ineffective, they’re outrageously expensive.

Democrats’ stunning ignorance is not only exhausting, it can be downright dangerous.
