Updates on EVs, Law Enforcement, Taxes, Elections, and More in Rep. Caulkins’ Latest Newsletter

TOP STORY

EVs are failing. Former CIA Director says Chinese EV manufacturers are espionage threats, and Pritzker and his Democrats remain silent after giving millions to Chinese-owned company for EV battery plant – another perfect storm.

We say it a lot in politics – YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP – and these stories are another set that falls into that category.

The Pritzker administration is ALL IN for turning taxpayers into business partners with Chinese communists and making us investors in EV technology that is failing everywhere.

  1. Rivian Needs Help Charging Their Own EVs

Local activist Diane Benjamin with BLN News reports on emails from EV maker Rivian asking Connect Transit how to charge their EVs in cold weather. In response, Connect Transit tells them they charge their electric buses in heated garages but not during peak times because it is too expensive.

  1. GOTION Potential Nexus for Espionage

Former CIA Director Leon Panetta warned the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party that a Chinese manufacturing plant in Michigan – which is a GOTION plant – is likely to be a place for espionage.

 Here’s an important excerpt:

“Panetta made the comments during a House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party hearing on Tuesday afternoon which focused on the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) support for America’s adversaries. The former CIA director answered in the affirmative when Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Mich., asked if China could use the plant, which is being developed by a subsidiary of Hefei, China-based firm Gotion High-Tech, for espionage. “

“I don’t think there’s any question that they’re going to take advantage of that situation,” Panetta remarked. “And I think we have to be very vigilant about what the hell is going on. That’s just the way they operate. They’ll establish a manufacturing unit, they’ll establish whatever they can, and then they will use that for their own intelligence purposes. They will use that for their own economic purposes.”

“They’ll use it to be able to gain the kind of advantages that are counter, frankly, to the interests of the United States,” he continued. “I think it is very important in those situations to make sure that the United States, and that our intelligence capabilities, are being used to make sure that we know what they are doing that could hurt the United States.”

  1. Does This Look Like a Thriving Company to You?

As electric buses sit unused all across the country, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is sticking to its radical green ideology and committing to buying additional electric buses from bankrupt electric vehicle (EV) company Proterra as the city moves toward an all-electric fleet by 2040.

Apparently the CTA never received this memo. This article explains the failed reality behind the EV movement:

Protect Criminals – Attack Police

The same radical Democrat who was the Chief Architect and Sponsor of the pro-criminal, anti-police SAFE-T Act now suggests that important traffic laws be essentially rescinded. In addition, if law enforcement does make a stop for speeding, for example, any evidence of another crime found during the stop, such as illegal drugs or a gun, would be inadmissible in court.

Terrible Democrat Policies Paid for by YOU

Even if the 35,000+ illegal migrants who have arrived in the Chicago area since 2022 don’t want to stay here, Illinois taxpayers have to foot the bill to send them wherever they go next.

According to the Illinois Department of Human Services, migrant travel costs in the Chicago area, including people leaving by bus, plane and train, total more than $775,000. And when additional travel related expenses such as rideshares are factored in, it’s at least $850,000 of taxpayer money that has been spent on migrants moving out of Chicago.

SO FAR.

Illinois Got This Decision Right

The Illinois Board Of Elections recently voted unanimously that it did not have the jurisdiction to determine whether former President Trump is constitutionally eligible to appear on the state’s March primary ballot.

The vote was 8-0 and split evenly between Democrats and Republicans.

The petition arguing that Trump was ineligible to appear on the ballot was filed by 5 (YES, FIVE) voters citing a Civil War-era provision.
